PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
FOR YOUTH FRIENDLY COASTAL MUNICIPALITIES
The 2012 analysis of youth policies in municipalities in Slovenia showed that none of the coastal municipalities had a youth board in the municipality council, nor a commission for youth issues. Moreover, target municipalities do not have a Youth Friendly Municipality certificate. The coastal municipalities do not have a regional youth institution. The key organisations are scattered, unconnected, their work programmes do not include the concept of active citizenship. The aim of the project is thus the increase of active inclusion and participation of youths by encouraging active citizenship and improving social competences through education and information.
RESEARCH, EDUCATION AND INFORMATION FOR YOUTHS IN COASTAL MUNICIPALITIES
PiNA employed a young person who was available to youths, representatives of organisations and local authorities for counselling, providing information and networking in the field of active participation within the project ADD. ADD chose young representatives who cooperated to form a coastal initiative group and performed field actions and consulting. They prepared educational workshops for secondary schools and university students, and an educational seminar on participation and active citizenship for youth workers. The project also covered extensive research on the satisfaction of youths in coastal municipalities, examining all municipalities, key youth organisations and more than 350 young participants. The research is presented in an extensive document titled Mladi v obalnih občinah: Analiza stanja (Youths in Coastal Municipalities: Current Situation Analysis). The whole project was presented in the documentary Dodaj nekaj smiselnega (Add Something Meaningful).
