A critical-reflexive and positive-active society represents the core of the democratic system and the basis of its optimal operation. The meaning of active participation is extraordinary, which is why the project Memefest: Recharged is centred on encouraging active participation, empowering society and raising of each individual’s responsibility. For this purpose, it uses methods chosen on the basis of values and experience of the partner organisations – with special emphasis on the use of modern information technology – and underlines the meaning of informational literacy.
PROJECT ACTIVITIES:
INTERMEDIA ART AND SPACE FOR REFLEXION OF EUROPEAN VALUES
Memefest: Recharged enabled the establishment of an interactive web portal, memefest.org, which serves as a platform to find answers to the challenges of modern society. The portal guided the society towards reflection about the relationship between love, power and conflict through an open international competition. Results, ideas and findings of the virtual society and the best works from the competition were presented in a real environment in public discussions and exhibitions in Ljubljana, Berlin, Nijmegen and Koper. Intermedia art and reflection about European values was the core of the four-day festival Oddstream and training for authors of the best works of the tender in the Netherlands. The project ended with the production of a documentary film about the relationship between politics and art.
