PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
THE IMPORTANCE OF THE WOMEN RESISTANCE FOR SOCIAL CHANGE
This project starts from the story of a woman who was a nurse at the border of Italy and Yugoslavia during World War II. By coming in contact with the injustices of that time, she decided to act and to take risks. With this project we want to underline the common fight of our women for the values that today we all Europeans share. We want also to underline how big and difficult was the step for the women to re-act and to use these examples to push the young to reflect about the values that moved these women, sacrifices that were needed, the “heritage” that they left us and the changes that those actions had or have on the society.
PROJECT ACTIVITIES:
WORKSHOPS, TREASURE HUND, CREATIVE WRITING, MULTIMEDIA, CONFERENCE
The aim of the workshops in high schools in Slovenia, Italy and Croatia is to open a discussion about the decision of the women to take part in the Resistance and the consequences in their life and in the society, what does it mean for a woman to be a “woman in resistance” today, which are the main values that the women’s Resistance has left in the younger generations. We will carry out a call for short films and essays for the young people (up to 30 years old). The winners of the call will be selected on Facebook and will be invited to attend the Resistance excursion, were the young people will be mixed in groups and “forced” to interact in all the three languages for a common aim; resolve all the mysteries and questions of the hunt. Through the hunt they will have the chance to discover the places of the Resistance. In addition we will prepare the “Woman in resistance” conference in Udine with historians and still living witnesses from all the three countries that will discuss the absence in the official historiography of the theme of the involvement of the woman and the role that they have had during the war.
TANGIBLE RESULTS:
Catalogue Experiences and narratives between Italy, Slovenia and Croatia (from the international conference Women of the resistance (Udine, 4th March 2016) in English, Italian, Croatian and Slovenian language
