Workshop: Two-day workshop “The use of theatre of the Oppressed to face discrimination of LGBT people”
Location: Koper, Slovenia
This two-day intensive workshop will give the participants the opportunity to discover or improve their techniques in the Theater of the Oppressed method.
The participants will:
learn about the different kinds of discrimination faced by the LGBT community and to be aware of it,
explore the role of taking action in response to discrimination of the LGBT community, with the main focus on work environments and on bringing together social workers, youths workers and LGBT people to explore their reactions on discrimination,
discover the method of the Theatre of Oppressed and acquire the tools to reproduce this method themselves,
practice an intervention in order to experiment the method as a whole and reflect about the reactions.
The trainer of Theatre of the Oppressed will be Frederique Jegu, a French Erasmus+ student. She’s been a practitioner of improvisational theatre for 10 years. In the last 4 years, she specialized in TO. She attended training courses in France and in Slovenia (including the latest training on the LGBT community issues organized by PINA). She’s also been using this method for the topic of health issues of teenagers.
The two-day workshop will be held in English (with possible translations if needed).

The training course is organised within the project Facing homophobia for an inclusive job, that focuses on exploring the use of methods of Theatre of the Oppressed in different social contexts (schools, public services, labor market, etc.) to find new ways to face the LGBT discrimination.
